Homel: UCP Candidates Are Prohibited to Meet with Electors Outdoors
According to the information that was given to BelaPAN by Vasil Paliakou, chair of Homel city organization of the United Civil Party, three members of the party have applied to Homel city executive committee with the request to authorize election meetings. Viktar Karniienka and Leanid Sudalenka who run to Homel regional deputy soviet at election constituencies #16 and #14 respectively intended to hold meetings near Rechytski supermarket and on the ground in front of Festyvalny Culture Palace, Mikalai Kaliuka, who runs at election constituency #2 – near a supermarket in Volatava suburb of Homel.
‘The candidates wanted to hold the meetings in the election circuits in which they run for deputy seats. All of them received similar answers from Homel city executive committee: according to the legislation meetings with the electorate are held in the buildings that have been determined by the commission. The applicants were also informed that there is only one place where meetings could be held in Homel – the ground in front of Vipra, Culture Palace of the deaf, which is quite far from all three constituencies’, V.Paliakou said.
