Sentence to Zmitser Dashkevich Left in Force

Today the College Board on Criminal cases of Minsk city court left in force the verdict to the political prisoner Zmitser Dashkevich – 1.5 years of jail for heading the unregistered organization Young Front. This verdict was originally issued on 1 November by the judge of Minsk Kastrychnitski borough court Ala Bulash.

Recently Mr Dashkevich has been transferred to the penal colony of Shklou. His father, Viachaslau Dashkevich, thinks the authorities use such repressions because they fear such leaders as Zmitser.

‘These judges issued the verdict to their children. I wanted to look them in the eyes. Zmitser doesn’t think as they do. I think that many people don’t… Then let them imprison us all!’ Viachaslau Dashkevich said.
