On 13 December in Zhodzina the police detained the youth activists Zmitser Monich, Siarhei Hrybok and Pavel Kostrykau (the last two are under-aged). The reason for the detention was that one of them had Svaboda newspaper in his bag.

‘During the interrogation the investigator Illich behaved very rudely and seemed eager to use violence. The police also summonsed representatives of the administration of the technical college, where the youngsters study,’ commented Zhodzina human rights activist Aliaksei Lapitski.

The guys were kept at the police station for about three hours. At about 12 p.m. they were let go together with the college’s social pedagogue. Zmitser Monich stated that under the pressurization he signed everything he was told to and now intends to complain to Zhodzina prosecutor’s office about the illegal actions of the police.
