Address
Repressive legislation and the practice of its application towards the opponents of the ruling authorities and persecution for opposition-mindedness have become systematic in Belarus.
One of the victims of the political repression became Professor Aliaksandr Kazulin, candidate to the position of president of the Republic of Belarus. He was sentenced to a long term of imprisonment for political reasons. Having exhausted all effective means of legal defence, he continues his hunger-strike of protest for the 50th day already, being still kept in jail. His health and life are in real danger.
We demand urgent release of Aliaksandr Kazulin and other political prisoners.
Each of you bears responsibility for health and life of Aliaksandr Kazulin.
We should remind that due to you inaction the circumstances of disappearance of the political opponents Viktar Hanchar, Anatol Krasouski, Iury Zakharanka and Zmitser Zavadski remain unknown despite frequent addresses to you by their relatives, representatives of the Belarusian and the international community.
We demand that you take all the necessary measures for defence of human rights and liberties in our country.
