Mahiliou: Local BRSM Branch Intends to Bribe Electors?
According to the press-service of the Assembly of NGOs
Alena Balshakova, one of the leaders of Mahiliou city branch of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union (BRSM), put an announcement in the regional state newspaper Mogilyovskaya Pravda that the BRSM members who took part in the election for the first time, would receive gifts.
Mahiliou human rights activists consider it as an attempt to bribe the electorate, which is categorically prohibited by the law. The public activist Aliaksei Paulouski directed appropriate inquiries to the Central Election Commission, Mahiliou regional prosecutor’s office and Mahiliou regional state control committee. He asks these state organs to give the official evaluation to such intention of BRSM which intends to violate the election laws. A similar action has already taken place in Mahiliou during the latest parliamentary election. At that time Aliaksei Paulouski also applied to the Central Election Commission with a complaint, but it was ignored. This time he decided to extend the number of recipients. In his inquiries he proposes that the means that BRSM intends to use for ‘electoral gifts’ be transferred to the city orphan asylum.
