All in all, the number of members of polling station election commissions is 70 877. Almost half of them, 48,1% were nominated by collection of signatures, 36,2% -- by working collectives, 10,5 – by political parties and 5 – by the state organs that established the commissions.
Only 113 members of political parties were included in election commissions: 101 – from the pro-governmental Communist Party of Belarus, 10 – from the Agrarian Party, 1 – from the Republican Party of Labor and Justice and 1 – from the United Civil Party. This is the official statistics. We should remind that in Minsk alone the United Civil Party nominated to election commissions of Minsk city deputy soviet 531 persons.
According to the UCP press-service, the only representative of the opposition at election commissions is the UCP member from Orsha. It is a former teacher of the Belarusian language and literature Mikalai Kamarouski, who joined the party in 1999. He is a 56-year-old pensioner, but heads a coterie at secondary school #8 where the commission is situated. During the previous election Mr Kamarouski also was the only UCP member who was included in election commissions.
