Homel: No Information for BelaPAN

On 29 November Anatol Hatouchyts, the correspondent of the non-state information agency BelaPAN in Homel region, called to Nadzeia Samuseva, the assistant prosecutor of Homel region on relations with press. He asked her to read to him press-release about the end of investigation of the criminal case against four gangs from the town of Rechytsa and passing of the case to court.
The assistant prosecutor said she didn’t know him and therefore couldn’t provide any information on the phone. He answered that he could come to the prosecutor’s office in 15 minutes, but N.Samuseva said that BelaPAN wasn’t mentioned in the state register of the subjects that could receive information.
A.Hatouchyts reminded her that BelaPAN has official registration and therefore has been introduced to the state register of mass media and by refusing to give the information she violated the law.
The assistant prosecutor ended the talk by advising the journalist to apply to his colleagues from the regional state newspaper Homelskaia prauda who received the press-release before.
