Supreme Economic Court Stops Consideration of New Life Church’s Case
On November 16 the Cassation Board of the Supreme Economic Court stopped consideration of appeals of the New Life church. They are to be considered after the session of the Supreme Economic court presidium which will consider the legality of land and building’s seizure from the church .
For more than 23 days over 100 Protestants were on a hunger strike for their church building, located in Kavaliou Street, 72. Day and night protesters stayed in the church building, demanding to reverse the ruling of the Supreme Economic court. The court had ruled to seize the church building and a plot of land.
On November 4 the presidium of the Supreme Economic Court of Belarus discharged the court order on the property of the New Life church and sent the case for reconsideration.
