Polish Parliament will urge the Belarusian authorities to release all political prisoners in the country. Parliament speaker Marek Jurek mentioned that in his letter to Alexander Milinkevich, leader of the United Democratic Forces of Belarus.

The speaker of the Polish Parliament informed Milinkevich about a resolution prepared by the Parliament. The resolution will urge the Belarusian authorities to stop repression against people and release all political prisoners in the country, reports Milinkevich’s press group.

Marek Jurek expressed support to Milinkevich on behalf of the Polish Parliament members: “We remember your speech at the Parliament. It was a bright evidence of how strong is the desire of the Belarusian society to achieve freedom and democracy”.

The resolution of the Polish parliament will be made in response on the appeal of Alexander Milinkevich to “support those who persecuted in Belarus for their political beliefs and demand from the Belarusian authorities to stop political repression and release all political prisoners”.

On October 20, 2006 Alexander Milinkevich addressed these words to the parliaments of the EU countries, the United States, Russia, and Ukraine.

The appeal was sent to the parliaments of Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuabnia, Luxemburg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands, Great Britain, the United States, Russia, and Ukraine.
