The leader of the Party of Communists of Belarus (PCB) Siarhei Kaliakin has been denied to register an initiative group for his nomination as a candidate to deputies of Minsk City Executive Committee in Kuibyshau circuit. The grounds for the registration denial were the statements of four out of ten members of the initiative group who said that they had been entered on the list of the commission without their prior consent. All four are students of Minsk universities. As S.Kaliakin told to the BelaPAN, those statements were made by the students after administration of their universities had pressed them into doing that. “It demonstrates once again that there won’t be election in Belarus,” the PCB leader believes.
According to the leader of the Communists, the regime is primarily trying to thwart activities of opposition leaders, using all means for that. However, the politician said, such actions would not remove oppositionists from the election campaign.
