On 8 November the international human rights organization Amnesty International presented its report. There it is stated that according to the official sources about 3 000 cases of domestic violence towards women in the Belarusian families have been registered this year. The human rights activists believe that the real number of such cases is much bigger.

The country has only three crisis centers for women in need. They are underfinanced and can’t give real help to those who need it. According to the report, this problem could be solved by NGOs, but their activity in the country is extremely limited. Amnesty International states that the authorities have already taken some steps for solving the problem, but they are still far from being sufficient.
