Main Council of Union of Poles in Belarus Protests against Harassment of Polish Minority
According to RFE/RL
On 4 November in Hrodna a sitting of the Main Council of the Union of Poles in Belarus (the one that is not recognized by the Belarusian authorities) took place. The sitting was attended by 21 members of the board and 7 heads of UPB branches from different cities of Belarus. There was adopted a note of protest against violation of the rights of Polish minority and harassment of the Union of Poles. The council considers the planting of amphetamine in the car of the UPB chair Anzhalika Borys as an evident provocation against the organization on the whole and its members.
The council emphasizes that it will defend the rights of all members of the organization, inform the international community and organize actions of protest. In the text of the note there is also the demand to the Belarusian authorities to recognize the Union of Poles with Anzhalika Borys at the head and return the confiscated property to the organization.
