Several youngsters appeared at the official celebration of the anniversary of October revolution in Svetlahorsk with a crown of barbed wire with the ribbon “To victims of totalitarianism”. The police came up to them and prohibited to lay down that crown because it ‘didn’t meet the standards’. Then the youngsters removed the ribbon and carried it to the crowns that had been laid before. Other policemen took the ribbon away from them and tore it. Then they started pulling Illia Shyla into a police car together with the crown of barbed wire. Passers-by expressed their indignation with these actions, but the police paid no attention to it. According to the press-service of Young Front, Mr Shyla was released after his parents came to the police station. However, the policemen left there the crown, ‘for expertise’. We should remind that last year Salihorsk police also detained four persons who laid down a crown of barbed wire in commemoration of victims of the Soviet regime.
