On 3 November the head of Mahiliou regional organization of the Belarusian People’s Front Party Ryhor Kastusiou was sentenced to 5 days of administrative arrest. In the morning the politician was detained near the railway station. He was going to entrain to Kyiv for participation in an international conference.

A verdict prepared beforehand was read at Mahiliou Leninski Borough Court. Ryhor Kastusiou was charged with petty hooliganism under the Article 156 of Administrative Code. At the trial the police witnesses stated that Mr Kastusiou urinated 100 meters away from his house. The judge decided to believe these testimonies and sentenced the defendant to 5 days of jail.

On 8 November Mr Kastusiou was released from jail. About 40 activists of the BPF came to meet him, but the police drove him away in unknown direction in order to disrupt the meeting. Later Mr Kastusiou also stated that as a result of the detention he couldn’t find the money he had. He stated he was going to complain against the illegal detention and also apply for bringing a criminal case on this fact.
