Former candidate for the post of the president Alexander Kazulin went on hunger-strike on October 20. He protests against the “lawlessness in the country”. He also tries to draw attention of the UN Security Council to the situation in Belarus. Former MP Siarhei Skrabets, sentenced to 2,5 years of imprisonment on February 14, 2006 on the charge of loan fraud, went on hunger-strike because the jail administration still failed to file his case for consideration of the possibility to release him on parole. “Skrabets is on hunger-strike also because of solidarity with Kazulin”, -- told Aleh Volchak, head of Kazulin’s legal group, to Charter’97.
