Political Prisoners of Belarus Apply to the People of Belarus
According to Radio Racyja
The political prisoners Andrei Klimau, Pavel Seviarynets and Mikalai Statkevich have signed the appeal to the people of Belarus. They call people to stop being indifferent to the fate of Zmitser Dashkevich and point at the possible referendum about adoption of the constitutional act about the union of Russia and Belarus, as a result of which Belarus can lose its independence.
On Monday the appeal was also signed by the political prisoner Artur Finkevich. It’s worth mentioning that a month ago Mr Finkevich was operated on his legs. However, shortly after the operation he went out of the hospital and took part in a sitting of the Young Front. He was detained there and returned to jail. During the last few weeks he has had a high temperature for the last weeks, but the prison administration doesn’t hurry to take him to a hospital, fearing that he could start public activity again.
The initiative of the appeal to the Belarusian people comes from the politician and human rights activist Viachaslau Siuchyk. Within the framework of the campaign For Dashkevich’s Freedom he visits to all penitentiary institutions where political prisoners are kept. Besides, Mr Siuchyk has applied to the country’s elite. He proposed writers and musicians to send books and CDs with autographs to the political prisoners.
