Vitsebsk members of the Belarusian People’s Front party tried to pay money for his stay, and to bring him food and sanitary articles. However, as informed by RFE/RL, an officer in the remand prison refused to hand over the parcels, and advised the activists to address for permission the regional prosecutor’s office.

As said in the prosecutor’s office, Pavel Krasouski is not serving a sentence. He is held for a time in a remand prison in order to prevent him from escaping from investigation.

The question of passing parcels in such cases is to be solved by an investigator responsible for the case, and he stays in Minsk, having made no directions on that. That is why the chairman of Vitsebsk branch of the Belarusian People’s Front party Kastus Smolikau failed to pass the things to the detained.

’The officer on duty told that Aliaksandr Rasolka is in charge of Krasouski’s case. He is an investigator for particularly important cases, he works in the general prosecutor’s office. I also spoke to Anatol Vysotski from the regional prosecutor’s office. He told that Rasolka will be available on Tuesday. Thus, on weekend Pavel will be left on a bare plank-bed without any blankets or anything, and without food parcel. We usually bring apples, cookies, sweets, bread, sausage and sanitary articles. But unfortunately, this time we didn’t manage to do it,’ said the activist.

Kastus Smolikau managed to find out that Paval Krasouski is detained only for 6 days for now. Next Tuesday, after the visit of the investigator, it would be decided whether to prolong his detention.

As we have informed, brothers Murashka, Vitsebsk dwellers, were kept in custody for the maximum term 6 months. After that they were released for lack of evidence.
