‘During the time when the notorious explosions took place in Vitsebsk Pavel Krasouski was abroad, which is confirmed by the border seals in his passport. I don’t understand what the people that fabricate a case against him think about. Pavel is one of the most active members of the Young Front. They simply want to imprison him on the eve of the election to the local deputy soviets. The regime again demonstrates its attitude to Young Front. At present almost all leaders are kept in investigative isolators, corrective labor facilities or hide abroad, but we will continue our struggle. In case the authorities imprison one person, tens and hundreds come to replace him,’ stated the leader of the Young Front Artur Finkevich commenting on the arrest of Pavel Krasouski.

The Young Front activist Pavel Krasouski was arrested on suspicion of having organized a series of explosions in Vitsebsk in summer 2005. According to Krasouski’s defense lawyer Pavel Sapelka, the crime is qualified as a violation of Article 139 Part 2 of the Criminal Code, the maximal punishment for which is death penalty. After today’s interrogation Mr Krasouski was returned to the investigative isolator of Vitsebsk.
