Former Director General of Naftan Ltd Sentenced to 4 Years of Jail
The Supreme Court of Belarus issued a verdict in the case of former administration of Naftan Ltd. The court found the former Naftan Director General Kanstantsin Chasnavitski and the company’s acting sales manager Siarhei Martynau guilty of embezzlement through abuse of office under Part 4 of the Criminal Code’s Article 210. Each of them has been sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment in a minimum security colony. The court has also ruled to collect 3.9 billion Belarusian rubles and from Chasnavitski and Br 125.4 billion from Martynau.
Chasnavitski’s USD 1.2 million at a currency bank account is to be collected by the state
Deputy Director General Dzmitry Bandarchuk was found guilty of abuse of power. He has been sentenced to 5 years of restriction of freedom in a medium security colony. The court ordered to collect 820 million Belarusian rubles from him.
The lawsuit in the criminal case against former Director General of Naftan refinery Kanstantsin Chasnavitski and the company’s acting sales manager Siarhei Martynau started in the Supreme Court in July this year. The accused were charged with causing damages of more than USD 3.7 million.
