On August 22 Kastrychnitski court of Hrodna tried activists of the pro-democratic Union of Poles. On 18 August Hrodna police detained Andrei Pachobut and Mechyslau Yaskevich for alleged interference into the work of the crew of the regional TV channel. The TV crew was shooting a clip about commemoration of Polish soldiers at military cemetery in Hrodna. Andrei Pachobut was sentenced to 10 days of jail. The charged against Mechyslau Yaskevich were dropped. However, Yaskevich spent 4 days in detention before the trial.
Hrodna human rights defender Viktar Sazonau reports, the regional court cancelled the decision of Kastrychnitski court to drop charges against Yaskevich and ruled to re-visit the case.
