Salihorsk: Small Businessmen Demand That Authorities Stop Illegal Business
According to RFE/RL
In Salihorsk about 180 small businessmen signed an open letter to the city authorities, the presidential administration and the tax inspection. There they state illegal trade in the city has reached an exceptional scope, which hinders the work of the officially registered businessmen. Unregistered entrepreneurs, who operate illegally, state that redundancy and hard working conditions for small entrepreneurs make them go on without registration.
At the same time, the local authorities state they try to counteract to illegal business even without such letters. The Belarusian Union of Entrepreneurs shares the opinion about the deficiency of the present legislation and calls on entrepreneurs to unite forces in order to improve the situation. The chair of the BUE department of small business Katsiaryna Chyzhyk commented: It is clear that our laws are deficient and unacceptable for many people and that they should be improved. However, one shouldn’t be afraid of it and rather create the necessary conditions. It means to become an entrepreneur and to create the necessary conditions at the same time.’
