Mikalai Statkevich Has Been Transferred to Corrective Labor Facility in Village of Sitniki (Pukhavichy district)
According to RFE/RL
The leader of the Belarusian social-democrats Mikalai Statkevich has been transferred to the corrective labor facility in the village of Sitniki (Pukhavichy district of Minsk region). Before this he worked at the corrective labor facility in Baranavichy, where his father lives. However, the local prosecutor considered it as a law violation and stated that Statkevich was to be transferred to Minsk region, in which he was registered.
It’s quite interesting that the instruction lets those sentenced to personal restraint (corrective labor) get to the open prisons on their own. However, Statkevich was escorted to Sitniki by guards. He believes this transfer has been caused by the political situation in the country and the upcoming referendum concerning the establishment of the union state with Russia in particular.
