Homel: Authorities Give No Help to Daughter of Entrepreneur Who Perished during Terrorist Act in Moscow
According to BelaPAN
On 21 August during the terrorist act in Cherkizovskiy market of Moscow the Belarusian entrepreneur Iryna Bahamolava was killed. Her husband, engineer Dzmitry Bahamolau, and the council of entrepreneurs of the central market of Homel applied to the local authorities and the administration of Frantsysk Skaryna Homel State University with the request to free Iryna’s daughter Katsiaryna Bahamolava from paying for education, which would be very helpful for the family that lost its main breadwinner.
The university provost on education Ihar Semchanka answered that by its rulings #609 and #665 the Soviet of Ministers prohibited to decrease the education fees or free students from paying them during the first year of education, that’s why the issue could be solved only in the beginning of the next curriculum year on the condition that the average mark of the student would be not less than 6 of the 10 possible.
By the way, only 60% of students are educated free of charge at Homel State University, the rest have to pay for it.
