Mahiliou: Administration of Open Prison Creates Hard Conditions for Prisoners
The administration of Mahiliou open prison decided not to let prisoners out. According to one of the workers, Aliaksandr Lamaza, this step was taken because a number of persons didn’t pay the fees for living there. Meanwhile, the law allows for paying the fees by the 15th day of each month, but the prison administration ignores this fact.
According to the European Radio, several weeks ago as a result of this situation several persons received bodily injuries. They tried to go out through a window and walk to the nearest shop. It’s worth mentioning that at present this open prison has one political prisoner, a Young Front leader Artur Finkevich. He hasn’t violated the prison rules and has paid the fees. Still, the prison administration tries to use every reason for demonstrating their disrespect or pressurizing him.
