Alyaksandr Milinkevich Urges EU Ambassadors For Solidarity With Political Prisoners
Drawing of the international communitys attention to the recent gross violations of human rights in Belarus, and in particular, to the trial over Partnerstva members, has been discussed today at the meeting of the leader of the United Democratic Forces Alyaksandr Milinkevich with ambassadors of the EU countries accredited in Belarus. In his address to European diplomats Alyaksandr Milinkevich said that international solidarity with Belarusian political prisoners is necessary.
Diplomats noted that they would follow the trial over Partnerstva activists.
Heads of diplomatic missions have expressed hope that the court would thoroughly and impartially consider all the aspects of the case and pass a just ruling. I was assured that representatives of the diplomatic missions would closely follow the developments. Warmest words of support to the families of political prisoners were said, Alyaksandr Milinkevich told.
As said by the leader of united democratic forces, ambassadors of the EU are to address the Foreign Ministry of Belarus today with an appeal to allow them attend the trial over Partnerstva activists.
The trial over Partnerstva activists Alyaksandr Shalajka, Enira Branitskaya, Mikalay Astrejka and Tsimafei Dranchuk is to start on July 28 in the court of Tsentralny district of Minsk. The trial will be held behind closed doors.
