Complaint Against Almaz Policemen Dismissed
On July 18 judge of Zavadski district of Minsk Aleh Zyamtsou dismissed another complain by lawyers of Alyaksandr Kazulin (Alexandr Kozulin). The defense lawyers of the former candidate for presidency demanded to repeal the decree of the prosecutors office, which hadnt brought up a criminal case against Almaz policemen, who arrested Alyaksandr Kazulin on March 25. As said by lawyers, Almaz policemen were insulting Kazulin and injured him by handcuffs.
It is the second attempt of Alyaksandr Kazulins lawyers to challenge the decree of the prosecutors office concerning actions of policemen against the former candidate for presidency. The first appeal to the court of Maskouski district of Minsk was dismissed as well. Now Kazulins lawyers are set to lodge complaints to the Minsk city court.
As we have informed, Alyaksandr Kazulin was detained on March 25, 2006 during a brutal disband of a peaceful demonstration. Non-lethal weapons were used against the protesters: smoke-grenades, noise-making explosives and tear gas.
