The check-up was initiated on the basis of a list named Declaration of Concern over Possibility of Restoration of Fascism in Contemporary Period. The document was signed by various people, including ex-victims of oppressions and their relatives and sent to the KGB on May 16. The signers expressed their concern over the authorities policy, who did not give any legal comments on the facts of vandalism and spreading of Nazism in Belarus.
The Union of Belarusian Jewish Public Associations and Communities had previously addressed the Prosecutors office for a couple of times before.
