Heads of diplomatic missions of the EU countries express regret for the verdict (5.5 years of imprisonment) which was passed to the ex-candidate for presidency Alyaksandr Kazulin on July 13. It was said in a statement by the Embassy of Germany to Belarus, which is represents the EU in the country. The statement was made on July 13.

With close attention the EU followed the trial and hoped for Kazulins release, the statement reads. The ruling of the court, according to ambassadors, is connected to the fact that A. Kazulin had run for presidency.

The verdict of the court contradicts basic freedoms, the rule of law and international commitments of Belarus, stated diplomats. They also confirmed their demand to release A. Kazulin and other political prisoners immediately.
