International cargo-carriers have to pay up to 0,70 USD per kilometer for escorting them along Belarusan roads. As Belarusan economic analyst Kanstancin Skuratovich says, “the authorities found another way to fill the budget. There is no such necessity to escort trucks with cargo, it is the attempt to place one more sphere of business under state control. For a transit country like Belarus this measure is harmful – the transporters will choose another countries instead of paying huge money for extra obstacles.”
