Free Trade Unions claim disallowed
On June 30 as Brest Leninski Borough Court resolved to disallow the claim filed by the Free Trade Union of Belarus in defense of its member and ex-teacher at Brest State University Valiantsin Lazarenkau.
He was fired from the University for having committed immoral actions, while he had not got any reprimands for 20 years before. The thing is that he is chair of the Free Trade Unions University branch.
On the eve of the presidential election day, on June, 18 he together with three colleagues was detained by Brest police. Lazarenkau was sentenced to 7 days of imprisonment and fired from the University a few days later.
The Free Trade Union of Belarus demanded to declare his dismissal illegal and rehabilitate him at his job. The trade union also urged the court to exact BYR 375,000 of wages and BYR 100,000,000 of moral damage.
In spite of the courts verdict, the claimant is going to file a complaint to Brest Regional Court.
