Andrei Sannikau: This is pillage and criminality of the powers
The customs service of the airport Minsk-2 refuses to return the money withdrawn from international coordinator of Charter97 Andrei Sannikau three months ago. The advocate was detained March 26, in the Minsk airport, on his way home from London. At the examination, $ 1 040 and EURO 260 were withdrawn from him. Despite the paper on personal examination stating he imported no barred items was handed to Mr.Sannikau, the customs service officials claimed the money could be faked.
During the last three months I have been calling to the customs service of the airport Minsk-2 two times a week. I will not mention names now, but I know who is in charge of these illegal actions. The sum is significant - $ 1 040 and EURO 260 - and it was equal to the sum I brought out from Belarus. No examination, even a visual one, had been held before the withdrawal, although I asked to apply to currency exchange points located in the airport equipped for checking bonds. The money was withdrawn after a phone call. I regard it pillage and criminality of the powers. This is a warning for everyone who wants to come to Belarus: everyone can face such an illegality.
