Young Activist In Vitsebsk Arrested For 15 Days

Ivan Spirin was the only one of the detainees who had been arrested in Vitsebsk for the last two days, who stays in the pre-trial detention center. He was detained on Saturday, June 17, near the amphitheatre, where graffiti Bunt and a streamer emerged. The young activist was charged with petty hooliganism and insubordination to demands of police because Ivan Spirin protested against search of his things. Judge Valyantsina Mikhasyova sentenced hi to 15 days of arrest.

As we have informed, yesterday young activists Yauhen Babkovich, Syarhei Shabanau and Ivan Burykin were sentenced to a fine of 1 basic unit each (31,000 BYR) by the court of Chyhunachny district of Vitsebsk. The young people were detained searched by police only for having spray cans in their bags. They were placed to a detention center. Today they have been found guilty for violation of the Article 156 of the Administrative Code (petty hooliganism).

A young activist Krystsina Shatsikava was fined 150 basic units (4,650,000 BYR or USD 2,183). For hanging up a national flag in the center if Vitsebsk Krystsina was first beaten up by policemen and then placed to a pre-trial detention center. She has been found guilty of Article 167 Part 1 of the Administrative Code for participation in an unsanctioned rally.
