Last chance for Minsk

Belarus was added to the Special section of the ILO Report at the International Labour Conference. The Belarusian government is to meet the demands of the Commission of Investigation within 5 months. Otherwise, as www.praca-by.info reports, the Administrative Council will raise the issue of implementing the punitive measures implied by the organizations Charter against Belarus.

The ILO has only one punitive measure left - Section # 33, the other measures have already been implemented, - Aliaxandr Yarashuk, the chairperson of the Belarusian Congress of democratic trade unions (BCDTU), says. - Eventually it can bring Belarus to international isolation and economic sanctions.

According to the BCDTU leader, such a decision will not lead to any positive consequences, since it deprives international organizations of the impact on the interior situation in Belarus. Aliaxandr Yarashuhk is convinced, however, that the chief goal is to make the Belarusian government meet the ILOs recommendations on elimination of trade unions rights violations in Belarus.
