Hrodna: KGB Agents Search Flat of Human Rights Activist Uladzimir Khilmanovich and Confiscate Computer Equipment
At 1 p.m. on 11 May five agents of Hrodna KGB branch came to the flat of the human rights activist Uladzimir Khilmanovich. They presented to him a search warrant that was signed by Minsk City Prosecutor’s Office and searched the flat. The search lasted for 3 hours and was connected to the investigative activities on the criminal case that was brought against members of the public initiative Partnership. As a result they confiscated from Mr Khilmanovich the computer equipment, printer and Xerox machine and documents of the public association Leu Sapeha Foundation, which Mr Khilmanovich is the vice-chair of.
After this another group of KGB agents came to Uladzimir Khilmanovich and showed to him a warrant for search of another private flat, where the investigation believed the materials of Partnership could be stored. Mr Khilmanovich had to go there with them. As a result of the search the KGB workers confiscated computer equipment, CDs and diskettes that belonged to the human rights activists Uladzimir Khilmanovich and Uladzimir Sazonau.
