Minsk: Viktar Ivashkevich Sentenced to 15 Days of Jail for Participation in Chernobyl Way Action

At 2 p.m. on 4 May Minsk Pershamaiski Borough Court considered the administrative case brought against the vice-chair of the BPF Party Viktar Ivashkevich for organization of the street procession on 26 April 2006, which was considered as a violation of part 2 of article #167.1 (organization of unauthorized mass action). We should remind that the action Chernobyl Way was authorized by Minsk City Executive Committee, unlike the meeting that took place near the Academy of Sciences. The court sentenced Mr Ivashkevich to 15 days of jail.
