Svetlahorsk: Protest Action by Natallia Bordak
According to RFE/RL
On 1 May the activist from Svetlahorsk Natallia Bordak came to the central square of the city with a white-red-white flag and transparency ‘Give Jobs to the Regime’s Victims!’. She did it to support the people who were persecuted by the authorities for their activite public position. She stood there for half an hour, then the police came. The policemen talked to her for a long time and then went away. In some time she finished the action as well. It’s worth reminded that she also faced persecution: the court fined N.Bordak 62 000 rubles for handing out the electoral program of Aliaksandr Milinkevich at the city’s market.
Before this incident N.Bordak worked as a psychologist at Svetlahorsk social service center. She rehabilitated invalids with art-therapy. However, when the director of the center Vasilikhina found out an administrative case was brought against the employee she proposed to Natallia Bordak to disemploy on her own will, which the latter had to do. Since March she is unemployed. She received only one proposal fro the local employment center. ‘They proposed to me a job in a town situated several kilometers away from the city. However, one needs to live there in order to be able to work, but I can’t do it, because I have a small child and a flat here’, she said.
