The court of Savetski borough fined the leader of the United Civil Party Anatol Liabedzka two basic units (62,000 BYR). Judge Aksana Reliava found the politician guilty of violation of the Article 159 of the Administrative Code (hooliganism). Riot policemen were witnesses in the trial. They claimed that Anatol Liabedzka used dirty language speaking about Lukashenka, government and police. It is the fourth administrative violation Aliaksandr Liabedzka charged of since the beginning of the last elections campaign.
The report on the party leader’s alleged violation had been drawn up against him in March. But the court was held today, on the eve of the traditional opposition action, the Charnobylski Shliakh.
“We have good reason to believe that it is an old idea of the regime. About a month and a half ago, three days before the presidential elections, Anatol Liabedzka was detained by riot policemen. Informational materials were seized from the car of the chairman of the National Committee. A report of administrative violation had been drawn up against him then. It was written there that Anatol Liabedzka had been “using foul language addressing the president, government and policemen for 10 minutes”. The chairman of the UCP was taken to the court, but the trial had not taken place. As it turned out, it had been postponed until the Charnobylski Shliakh,” Liabedzka noted.
