Andrei Iurkou’s Children Are Pressurized during His Arrest
Andrei Iurkou was detained on 24 March during the dispersal of the tent camp in Kastrychnitskaia Square in Minsk. He was sentenced to 15 days of jail and served the arrest term in Zhodzina jail.
According to the press-service of the Assembly of NGOs, his daughters, 11-year-old Daryia and 7-year-old Ianina witnessed that somebody disseminated among schoolchildren the rumors that in the tent camp their father offered vodka to children and that he would be sentenced to 2 years of jail for it. As a result, other schoolchildren started insulting the girls.
Andrei Iurkou thinks that the teachers knew about it but didn’t do anything to stop the lies and calm down the girls, for whom it was a hard psychological situation. Of course, we should blame adults, not children, in spreading lies, starting from the newscasters and producers of the Belarusian state TV.
