Minsk: More Imprisonments
On 10 April Minsk Tsentralny Borough Court tried the detained participants of the 7 April’s protest action against the inauguration of Aliaksandr Lukashenka. Deputy chair of the Conservative-Christian Party Iury Belenki was found guilty of having organized the action and was sentenced to 15 day of jail by the judge Aliaksei Bychko. The same judge sentenced to 10 days of jail the activist of the CCP BPF Eduard Boki and to 15 days of jail - Illia Shymanski.
At the trial the student Uladzimir Bohach didn’t deny that he head come to the square to protest against the third presidential term to Aliaksandr Lukashenka. The court sentenced him to 10 days of jail. The student Uladzimir Mikalaieu confirmed that he had consciously joined the meeting participants and held a white-red-white flag in his hands. For this he was sentenced to 15 days of jail. The riot squad policemen Siarhei Herman, Maksim Kazakou, Zmitser Subach and Ihar Zinkevich participated in the trials as witnesses.
On 7 April people came out to the central streets of Minsk with the posters ‘For New Election’, ‘Falsifier Is Not President’, ‘For Free Belarus!’ and ‘Down with Fascism!’. The riot police detained the action participants in different places - near the circus and in Niamiha St. Iury Belenki was detained in the porch of his house in Victory Square.
