Iosif Siaredzich, Narodnaya Volya’s editor-in-chief, told BAJ press service, on March 29 the publisher would decide whether to make an attempt to print another issue in Smolensk: about 400, 000 copies of previous issues were detained on Russia-Belarus border before the elections. Now the print rubs are still kept by police of Vitebsk region. There is a high probability that the same will happen with the next issue as well.
On March 28 Siaredzich had a conversation with Ihar Malaniak, director of Chyrvonaya Zorka Minsk printing press. He wanted to inquire about the chances to print the newspaper in Minsk. However, the conversation failed to clarify the situation: the press director postponed the conversation several times, and then recommended “to contact him in a week or two”. On March 29 Siaredzich plans to talk to the administration of Smolensk “Mikhailov’s printing press” to clarify whether their contract of March 13 is still valid. The contract with “Mikhailov’s printing press” was signed when Smolensk Polygraphic Center had refused to cooperate.
