Group of Citizens Appeals to Head of Brest Police Demanding to Release 15 Activists

The appeal to the head of Internal Affairs Department of Brest city executive committee contains the list of 15 Brest activists who are serving terms in the city jail. It points out that the authorities have launched a repressive machine, and the police officers gave false testimony.
The citizens who signed the appeal draw the police chief’s attention to the fact that after having served previous terms the activists were immediately arrested again. “We are surprised at such a hatred of citizens! We cannot submit to the facts of intimidation, illegal detentions and jail sentences for people who have opposite political views”, reads the appeal.
The appeal was signed by many people, including a local councilor, veterans, a mother of many children, school kids. The initiators of the appeal plan to send it to the prosecutor’s office, the regional court, Kanstantsin Sumar, Head of Brest region executive authorities, and authorities of Brest city, reports Assembly of the Democratic NGOs.
