On 15 March the police detained the journalist of the non-state newspaper Narodnaia volia Valery Shchukin at electoral polling station #52 of Vitsebsk, where he acted as an observer. The policemen took him to Vitsebsk Pershamaisky Borough Board of Internal Affairs without any explanations.
