Barys Haretski was arrested on 16 February for participation in the action Day of Solidarity. He was show the statute of the educational establishment where it was stated that students could be remanded for violations of the Code of Administrative Violations.

At 8 p.m. in Skaryna Av. The police stopped the car where Barys Haretski and the activist of the Young Front Iauhen Sakalou were driving. The police allegedly stopped them for checking the documents, but then took them to Minsk Tsentralny Borough Board of Internal Affairs. The policemen thoroughly searched the car, looking for agitation materials, but found nothing.

Barys Haretski commented: ‘It is an eloquent manifestation of the repression against activists on the eve of the election. KGB workers visited the polytechnics every two days and I am sure I was expelled on their order. The authorities are afraid of my influence on other students, that I can bring them to the square. That’s why I was expelled in advance.

Since the beginning of the electoral campaign the administrations of different educational establishments have already expelled more than a dozen of activists of different unregistered youth organizations.
