Belarusian Customs Officers Confiscate Copies of “Arche” and “Krytyka” Magazines
On the way home from Lithuania the citizen of Belarus Iury Chavusau was searched by the workers of Ashmiany customs office. They examined his private belongings and confiscated the Belarusian magazine “Arche” (#1-2/2006) and the Ukrainian magazine “Krytyka” (#11-12, 2005). The customs officer I. Chaikouski spent more than an hour examining the election-related discussion that was published in “Arche” and the “Krytyka” publications concerning Belarus. Finally he declared it was necessary to pass these editions to experts in order to find out whether they weren’t harmful for the interests of the Republic of Belarus and took the editions away. Mr. Chavusau is going to complain against this lawless action.
