In Shchuchyn District Authorities Declare 1028 Signatures for Aliaksandr Milinkevich Invalid

On 6 February Ivan Sakalouski, chair of Shchuchyn District Election Commission informed members of Aliaksandr Milinkevich’s initiative group that more than 16% of the signatures they passed were found invalid, as a result of which the commission declared invalid all signatures it received.

Siarhei Liashkevich, chair of Shchuchyn district headquarters of A. Milinkevich, thusly commented on the incident:
-- There were different reasons. The commission clang to everything. Sometimes there was a letter absent, or second name. Some people also had not very legible handwriting. All these things were used to find the signatures invalid. As a result, it appears we all have worked in vain.

In Shchuchyn district signatures were collected only for Milinkevich and Lukashenka. During the commission’s sitting on signatures for Lukashenka it was declared that more than 11 000 signatures were collected and all of them were valid.
