The activist of the youth movement Siarhei Marchyk was punished for participation in the “illegal meeting” that took place on December 16, 2005 in the central square of the town. The activist was accused of violating Article 167.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences (organization or participation in unauthorized mass action). What should be reminded is that on December 16, 2005 on the Day of solidarity with political prisoners of Belarus and the families of politicians who has disappeared several tens of young people came to the central square of Baranavichy with candles. The police decided that the vent was a kind of unauthorized meeting and the people came to the square violated the order of conducting such events.
