A new case of violation of the election law was disclosed in Brest during the collection of signatures for A.Lukashenka
On 18.01.2006 at about 12 o’clock Siarhei Vakulienka and Kanstantsin Turcheniak were visiting the region library after Horki in Brest. At this very time the initiative group of A.Lukashenka was collecting signatures. The process was conducted by a person who did not have any right to collect signatures.
A subscription list containing passport details of S.Vakulenka and K.Turcheniak did not have required information indicated in Article 61 of the Election Code. According to this article, a subscription lists must contain a last name, a name, and a patronymic name, information about the date of birth, profession, position, work place, a place of living, and membership in a party of a person who is proposed to be elected to the position of the President of the Republic of Belarus, the list must also contain the name, the patronymic name, and the last name of a member of the initiative group who collects signatures and the number of the initiative group proper. The list did not contain any of the above mentioned, and there were a flyer on the table that did not have any information except agitation.
The person who was collecting signatures with violation of the Election Law was N.Laskovich. She tried to destroy the material evidence of the violation (the subscription list) that was in the Vakulenka’s hand and, as a result, broke his obstacles. One of the witnesses of this event called the police to make a protocol about the violation of the law.
S.Vakulienka gave the subscription list to lieutenant A.Tarasievich, a representative of the Department of Internal Affairs, who arrived at the library. Now the subscription list is located at the Maskouski Borough of the Department of Internal Affairs of Brest. S.Vakulienka and K.Turchak sent a statement about the violation to the Central Commission, the Election Commission of Maskouski Borough of Brest, and to the head of the Department of Internal Affairs of Maskouski Borough of Brest.
