The head of the headquarters of the initiative goup Aliaxandr Milinkievich received a written warning from the procurator in Smarhon District for the issue of a bulletin

On 16 January Alies Dzerhachou, the head of the headquarters of the initiative group Aliaxandr Milinkievich in Smarhon District, was summonsed to the procurator of Smarhon District. Procurator Mikalai Malinouski proposed that he read an official warning. The warning concerned the unacceptability of the violation of the law, because Alies Dzerhachou issues the bulletin “Nash Smarhonski krai” that covers the issues of the electoral campaign, and also contains excerpts from various newspapers and speeches. The procurator's document says: “To prevent possible violation of the law I warn that further violation of the Law "On the Press and Other Mass Media", the electoral legislation and other laws of the Republic of Belarus are inadmissible”.
This is the explanation provided by Procurator Mikalai Malinouski:
“Because he will continue to issue his newspapers in the future. This is what should be done: what if he allows something to be printed? To prevent him from doing so, we’d better warn him now than punish later”.
Alies Dzerhachou, a lawyer by education, is very surprised at such a warning: “I believe this is all done because of great fear. They do not know what to do. They see that printed periodicals continue, that they are legal, but they have to be shut down in some way. By intimidating the founder, for example”.
