On 15 January an attendant and curator of the construction college dormitory in Mahilou did not allow entry to two signature collectors, students of Kuliashou University - Natallia Paliakova and Iauhien Boika. The dormitory curator referred to the order “not to let anyone inside”, reported Radio Liberty.
When members of the initiative group attempted to explain their rights to her according to the electoral legislation, the curator called police. The signature collectors were taken to the district department to be released later.
As a result, the signature collectors lost almost two hours. The collection of signatures was disrupted. The head of the local headquarters of Aliaxandr Milinkievich Uladzimier Shantsau noted that this was not the first case of the collectors not being allowed inside dormitories. A related complaint was sent to the chair of Mahilou City Executive Committee. The response provided by the deputy chair Mr. Mikheenka said that the collectors "must follow the internal dormitory rules".
