Baranavichy: Narodnaia Volia Readers Are Still Tried
On 13 January Baranavichy City and District Court tried one more person for holding of the newspaper Narodnaia Volia in his hands. It was Viktar Miziak. He was charged with violation of Art. 167.1 of the Code of Administrative Violations for holding the newspaper outdoors.
However, the policemen who composed the violation report didn’t come to the court. That’s why V. Miziak solicited for summonsing witnesses and the persons who composed the violation report on him. The judge satisfied the petition and postponed the trial to 16 January 2006. During the familiarization with the materials of the administrative case against him he also read the letter of Baranavichy City Executive Committee to the chair of Baranavichy District Board of Internal Affairs. In this letter the CEC demanded from the police to find and punish participants of the unauthorized action that took place in Baranavichy on 10 December 2005. In the letter there were also mentioned surnames of some participants – V. Miziak, V. Syrytsa, A. Blinkouski, etc.
It’s worth mentioning that the court has already fined A. Blinkouski 800 000 rubles. On 12 January judge Zh. Kapacheuskaia tried Viktar Syrytsa in absence of witnesses and the policemen who composed the violatuion report and fined him 870 000 rubles. At the end of 2005 Mr. Syrytsa had to retire from Baranavichy Economic-Juridical College because of the pressurization from the administration and Baranavichy City Executive Committee that started after he organized a meeting of the college students with the candidate to presidency Aliaksandr Milinkevich. A. Blinkouski, V. Syrytsa, V. Miziak and U. Housha are members of the initiative group for registration of Aliaksandr Milinkevich as a candidate to the presidential position.
